Production-Grade OPEN Platforms

There was a time when OPEN-Source Software projects meant unprofessional, risk-laden software without support or a reality-grounded roadmap, but those days are long gone. Today’s OPEN-Source revolution harnesses the power of distributed peer review and transparency to create high-quality, secure and easily integrated software at an accelerated pace and lower cost. Daystrom’s OPEN platforms deliver choice, reliability, security and fast deployment by utilizing our OPEN partners:

open platforms

OpenShift occupies an interesting niche in the computing ecosystem. As is a leading Platform-as-a-Service solution, it typically sits on top of IaaS (infrastructure as a service) to leverage the virtualized compute, storage and networking resources IaaS can provide from a larger pool of physical hardware.

Where IaaS removes the complexity of physical systems management and makes resources available by automation, OpenShift and PaaS take virtualization “up” a level to include databases, data, and processes as a service. Think of PaaS as providing the entire package: compute, network, storage, databases, information streams, business processes, and meta-applications, all tied up in one "stack" or "sandbox." Where PaaS adds value over IaaS is to automate all the provisioning of resources and applications, which can be a huge time-saver for everyone - especially developers. Available as both the hosted OpenShift Online service and the on-premise OpenShift Enterprise, OpenShift PaaS provide exceptionally easy-to-use and flexible environment for Dev, Test and Production.

Scalable Storage

Be it the Internet of Things, Real-time Analytics, or High-Resolution Images, Data keeps growing and Data Management must keep up...and while "The Cloud" provides a easy solution to data growing pains, it offers little in the way of data functionality and valuation. Enter the growing list of initiatives that tackle data management, access security and locality.. such as Apache Bigtop, iRods, and the Open Data Platform. These and other tools transform data from an overwhelming wave into managed assets that create value and competitive advantage. Not using them yet? Let us introduce you!

Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack® Platform

IT organizations are increasingly turning to Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) private clouds for their ability to swiftly deploy and scale IT infrastructure to meet end-user demands. But not just any OpenStack® cloud will stand up to the demands of a production-scale environment or meet your performance, scalability, and security standards. Until now. Discover the reliability and simplicity of deploying Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® OpenStack Platform, and gain the worlds most scalable Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution that delivers an open, flexible, and enterprise-ready private cloud foundation.

Software Defined Storage

Software-defined storage (SDS) is the new model for building scalable storage systems and infrastructure that seamlessly integrates with infrastructure automation and data management APIs, and does so independent of hardware restrictions. Two of the leading SDS enterprise storage architectures are Ceph and Red Hat Storage Server (RHSS-Gluster) and are both supported by the leader in OpenSource: Red Hat. Ceph is a massively scalable, open source, software-defined storage system that runs on commodity hardware. It delivers object, file and block storage in one self-managing, self-healing platform with no single point of failure. Ceph replaces legacy systems with a single solution that spans data centers and the cloud. RHSS is the fast, open source, distributed file system capable of scaling to several petabytes and handling thousands of clients. RHSS and Ceph both look to be supporting technologies to the newest File-access model: OpenStack Manila.

Open Compute Project

Launched in 2011, the Open Compute Project was formed to create a collaborative dialogue that drives Data Center Efficiency from a hardware perspective. Originally created by a team at Facebook, initial efforts have already resulted in deployments that use 38 percent less energy while costing 24 percent less than comparable environments. With specific initiatives in the areas of Compute, Storage, Networking, Electrical, Mechanical and Management, OCP is the center of next-generation thinking in data center architecture.
